Christmas in the Living Room, 3 Trees, Carolers and A Village, 2021

 

 

 

 


 Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!

 I am so happy you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog!!

  Every room in our townhouse has a different Christmas Theme and Color Scheme!!
 
 I prove that you do not have to live in a large home to have several Trees, over 20, in all shapes and sizes!!

The majority of my Christmas decorations are placed in the same room every year and I know that this is not what most Decorator's care for but to me, it like seeing old friends again when I decorate each year for Christmas as many of my decorations were gifts from family and friends........... 

I do try to add a few new things and change up things a bit but for the most part, these decorations are part of my Christmas Traditions and bring back a lot of treasured memories.....



Just a reminder, I will be NOW posting 3 times a week as I realized that in some rooms, there is just too much to share in one post SO until the New Year, I will be posting on SUNDAYS, TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS so be sure to check back on those days to see a new post......  


 
 Today, I will be sharing the 3 Trees and Village in my Living Room.....
 
 
On to some personal notes...
 
 

Tomorrow I will be dropping Joe off for a routine Endoscopy in the morning and then picking him back up when they call me that he is done......

Don't worry....that is what happens when you eat a pizza with hot peppers on it and then go to bed right afterward each and every night for 40+ years!!!!

He has severe GERD , which is his own fault, so now he has to pay the price and go for different tests!!!
 
And when I warned him about doing so, he called me stupid and that I had no idea what I was talking about SO now I get the last laugh!!
 
LOL!!

Anyway, Joe says to me " You can go shopping until they call you when I am done"

And here is what I said " WHAT ARE YOU FREAKING CRAZY???? WHY WOULD I DO SOMETHING SO STUPID????"

If I get Co Vid, you DO know he will be the one to give it to me, don't you???


In my last post, I shared my Pink Victorian styled Dining Room decorated for Christmas....

It takes me 5-6 days to decorate the Living Room for Christmas.....

One day of that is spent packing away the Fall decorations and another day is spent giving the room a good cleaning....

As I mentioned, today I will be sharing some of the living Room.....

There are 3 decorated Trees in this room....


I guess I could call this Tree my main Christmas Tree out of the 22 Trees....

It is a 7 foot slim tree that I keep up year round and decorate it for the different Seasons and Holidays.....

Each year, I set up a Village underneath the Tree, just like my Dad did, on the platform that he made for me....

The color theme for Christmas in the Living Room is gold, red and green and I stick with a Victorian, vintage vibe....

Several years ago, I decided to add a few sets of LED white, red and green lights to the Tree.....

I like the pops of color.....

I top the Tree with a bow made from ribbon with red and white striped candles on it....

That ribbon matches the Martha Stewart red and white candle ornaments on the Tree.....

There is also a gold finial topper on the Tree....

There is 3 different types of beaded garland on the Tree....

I have accumulated these Victorian style ornaments over 20 years.....

And even made a few myself.....

There are also gold floral picks tucked in the Tree.....

The Tree is pretty much decorated the same from year to year......


This year though, I decided to change up the Village underneath the Tree....

I use the boxes that the houses came in to build the "mountains"

The one year, I forgot I did this and was at my wit's end and in tears because I could not find the boxes to the houses!!!!

Stupid me!!!

This is the layout I decided on this year....

I moved the houses in and lit them up.....

Just about every house is in a different place then last year.....

There is a total of 4 houses up on the mountains which will give more room down in the Village area....

And here it is finished.....

There was more room on the actual platform then before.....

Let's take a closer look......

This is the Lemax brand Village which I started buying in the early 80's when my sons were born.....

Each one has a special meaning like the Church which was always important in our lives....

Joseph's Seafood restaurant was bought because Joe sure does make a mean lobster tail ( my Dad taught him how) and Carrington's Department Store was bought because both Joe and I loved to shop......

 


 

 
 
 
 The General Store reminds me of little shops we stopped at when we traveled a lot when the boys were young ...
 

 And the blue Queen Anne Victorian home is the house of my dreams.....
 
 

Up on the mountain......

Ironically, Joe did not start to work at the Post Office until years later after I bought it.....

 
And the train station reminded me of a local one that was refurbished and turned into a restaurant where we used to go to eat.....

Of course the Lighthouse was bought as we used to vacation in Wildwood, N.J. every year and take a day trip to Cape May....

 
When the Cape May lighthouse was finally restored, we climbed to the top of it one year......

I say this every year but I can still hear my Dad saying "That a Girl" as I lay on the floor setting up this village just like he did with a Plasticville Village when I was growing up.....

I will continue to do this, carrying on the tradition, until I am no longer physically able to do so.....




On top of the TV Entertainment Center, is the second Tree in the Living Room.....

In the middle is a vintage Tree that I found in my neighbor Elly's attic when we were cleaning out her home for her sons......

I decorated it with lights, snowflakes and red ornaments.....

I think it is perfect for my Caroler display.....

This is a Sam's Club set made by Grandeur Noel which is now out of business.....






 
 
 
 
 


 


 
 


This is one of my favorite sets.....



And now we move on to the 3rd Tree in the Living Room......

Over in the corner by the stairs, is a 4 foot Tree in an urn......

 I bought this Tree 2 years ago in Boscov's on Clearance.....

I decorated it with vintage looking gold tinsel garland bought at Target and red, gold and green Shiny Brite vintage ornaments.....

This Tree is decorated all the way around as it can be seen from all angles.....

 
 
 
 


The Tree stands on a marble topped cherub urn that I bought at Salvation Army many years ago.....

On the table, I placed a vintage pop up Christmas card that was my neighbor Elly's.....

 
Ironically, it is of a Post Office.....

    Your trees are just masterpieces! So lovely in every detail. I understand the BIG decision to move the houses around. I have set my village up the exact same way ever since we built our addition over 15 years ago, LOL. If something gets switched or is a little different, it bothers me until I figure out all the "correct" spacing. I do add little accessories here and there, but the buildings stay exactly the same. I am a creature of habit. Your living room is just lovely! I don't know how you do it all in four or five days!

    I can't believe you put up 22 trees! Gah - they're all so beautiful and you make it look so easy. I was totally stressed with just one tree so I can't even imagine adding 21 more. Love all the beautiful pink touches you've added and your carolers and village too. They look real! Hug, CoCo

    Ok now miss Dabble this is the happy Christmas house! Love all your collections. The village is beautiful good idea to use the boxes for height. Love the carolers! You mentioned something about your dad's plasticville village you set up as a child.     Debbie, you have so many wonderful and beautiful collections. The carolers are exquisite and the little village houses are so great. When we first moved to our town the local grocery had different little houses on sale each week and I bought them all. I set them up differently each Christmas but by the time I started blogging I had given them all away. Of course, now I am upset with myself that I did that. How wonderful that you are continuing the tradition. I hope you are enjoying these beautiful days and Merry Christmas..xxoJudy

    What a show. Feast to the eyes. You have great collection. Brings so much happiness. I saw the arranging on the steps you have made. Here i want to mention that we have a festival( in India) for nine days and arrange gods and goddesses dolls on the steps and invite guests and give gifts. Its a kind of thanks giving .     22 trees is more than our downtown mall has! It's all so pretty and festive in each area of your home.
    I hope Joe's procedure went well, and he gets some relief.

    I'm looking forward to another year of pretty inspiration when the FWF party starts up again this Friday, January 7th.
